Ray + Renee's Palm Desert Wedding at Desert Ridge Estate
One thing about us, we’re high school sweethearts. So when we chatted with Ray & Renee, we instantly felt a connection to their story. And after nearly 18 years together, Ray and Renee had absolutely nothing to prove on their wedding day.
No pressure to follow traditions. No interest in doing things because that's what weddings are "supposed" to look like. Just a celebration built around the people, memories, and inside jokes that have shaped nearly two decades together. Which is probably why we love them so much.
Their wedding at Desert Ridge Estate in Palm Desert felt less like a production and more like being invited into their world for a day. Everywhere you looked, there was evidence of a couple who genuinely know and love their people. At dinner, every guest found a handwritten letter from Ray and Renee waiting at their seat. Not a generic thank-you note. An actual letter. And if that wasn't enough, each place card included a personalized inside joke written specifically for that guest. It was one of those details that could have easily gone unnoticed from afar, but once you realized what they'd done, it completely changed the feeling of the room. Every person there knew they weren't just invited to a wedding—they mattered.
The entire day was full of moments like that.
There were no wedding bands exchanged.
Ray walked down to an Eminem song.
The wedding party made their entrances with choreographed hip-hop dances, and Renee shared choreographed dances with both her mom and dad.
And somehow every unconventional choice felt completely natural because it reflected exactly who they are.
Then there were Conan and Peyton — our favorite guests at the wedding. Their two German Shepherds weren't just part of the wedding; they were part of the story. Anyone who spends more than five minutes with Ray and Renee can tell how much they love those dogs. And sadly, not long after the wedding, one of their beloved shepherds passed away.
It's impossible not to think about that now when looking through these photographs and films. What once felt like a sweet detail has become something much bigger — a reminder of why preserving these moments matters in the first place. It’s why we never leave out a single good image of a person, or a pup.
